SUPREME COURT EMERGENCY ORDER FOR "TELEWORKING"

March 14, 2020 9:15 AM | Anonymous

The Texas Supreme Court has released its First Emergency Order Regarding the COVID-19 State of Disaster in response to Governor Abbott's disaster declaration earlier today, Friday, March 13, 2020. This Emergency Order gives all Texas courts (civil and criminal) the authority to modify or suspend any and all deadlines and procedures.

Most importantly to our profession, while the emergency order is in effect, it authorizes anyone involved in any hearing, deposition, or other proceeding of any kind -- including but not limited to a party, attorney, witness or court reporter -- to participate remotely, such as by teleconferencing, videoconferencing, or other means.

Please CLICK HERE to download the full Emergency Order. The Order is in effect until May 8, 2020, unless extended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

We will continue to keep our members informed as things develop.

We implore our members to take this situation seriously and to please stay safe and healthy. Thank you so much for your membership in TEXDRA and for your support of our profession!
