Uniform Format Manual (UFM) Revision Process to Begin Shortly

March 01, 2018 2:09 PM | Anonymous

Greetings!  At the Court Reporters Certification Advisory Board (CRCAB) meeting on Tuesday, 2/27, the chair, Judge Sowder, appointed a five-member subcommittee tasked with revising and updating our UFM.  This revision process is the last "legacy" task passed down from the CRCB a few years ago.  The process will be the same as that undertaken for the Code of Professional Conduct review, with the same committee members.  TEXDRA suggested the addition of association representatives - one from TEXDRA and one from TCRA - be appointed to the subcommittee as well.  Judge Sowder and staff were receptive to the idea, and staff attorney Scott Gibson is looking into whether that is permissible and will let us know at the next Advisory Board meeting, which has yet to be scheduled.  TEXDRA president David Ross has reached out to TCRA's president to suggest the two associations collaborate on the UFM review and revision process, and we hope for a successful and efficient process to effect long-overdue updates to the UFM.  We will keep our members up to date as things develop.   If you have questions or suggestions, please e-mail TEXDRA at UFM@texdra.org.  We're listening!  Thank you.
